Maybe he could just get a headrub?
being a professional friend is not easy.
Merely being in his presence, Beartato's mind is set at ease. Look at the relaxation on that tiny muzzle.

You just mash at the sides a bit. That's what I'd do.
Also, Reginald has a sort of evil eye thing going in panel #3. I think it's the flattened upper edge, makes it look like he has bad intentions.
AW. These guys are so cute.
RUB HIS EARS
Beartato is like a tater tot. You can squish him from any angle, really.
If you drop him he will bounce
i had to come back a couple times.
but now i finally understand this and can enjoy it to its full potential.

I love frazzled Beartato in the first-panel. As much as I love the little guy, I kind of want his life to get a lot more stressfull now.
You should really read For Better Or For Worse.

this is the best!
reginald is the best name i have ever heard. and beartato is pretty sweet too. i love this!
Sometimes when I read Saki
I like to imagine that it's the same Reginald.
this comic is gracefully subtle, like beartato's shoulders
Why did you have to go there?
Before i understood that Beartato had no shoulders, i thought the joke was after offering a shoulder massage Reginald suddenly realized that he was not comfortable with this level of intimacy.
Haha, that one made me shout out laughing, and then I couldn't figure out why! Fabulous.
A true friend would find a way.
It is DELIGHTFULLY subtle.
He could just erm... pat him on his sides in a soothing manner, I guess :I
At first I thought you said "in a smoothing manner." Which I enjoyed.
He should have just given him a hug.
